Ludvic
b.1944
Born in Egypt, Ludvic brings ancient ideas of rebirth and resurrection to his expressive, commanding paintings. The artist works in series, the abstractions ranging from the emotive A Thousand Poems for Lauren (his wife), to the deeply symbolic Quiet Temples, to the bold and vibrant Rhapsodies. Ludvic’s art is thoroughly trained and academic, immersed in years of European study and informed by the works of Goya, Velasquez and Manet, as well as 20th century masters such as de Kooning and Kline. Yet his paintings are wrung from the deepest parts of his soul -- where formal knowledge is intrinsic. Painting masterfully in broad gestures of color, there are few abstract artists working today who can match Ludvic for pure talent.
